Tillamook PUD Offering Employment for Education Scholarship    

TILLAMOOK, OR – February 16, 2009- Tillamook PUD is currently accepting applications for its Employment for Education Award.  All Tillamook County high school seniors with a 3.0 or better grade point average are encouraged to apply.  Interested students must be accepted at an accredited college to attain a two or four-year college degree or be accepted into a vocational program for certification in a specialized field.

Applications are available from high school counselors or from the PUD. The completed application, along with the requested information, must be returned to Tillamook PUD by 5:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2009. 

The Tillamook PUD Board of Directors will interview applicants in mid-April.  Applicants are evaluated on academic achievement, educational and career goals, employment experience, extra-curricular activities, financial need and leadership qualities.

The Employment for Education program is an opportunity for students to work at the PUD during school breaks.  The student will perform varied tasks normal to the operation of an electric utility including outside work such as flagging and chipping brush.  Inside work may include answering phones, assisting customers and data input. 

Tillamook PUD has offered this program to local students for 45 years.
