Tillamook PUD News
Major Projects
In 2006, Tillamook PUD completed the Tillamook area conversion and the construction and energization of the Wilson River Substation. Combined, these projects were the largest the District has ever undertaken.
Additionally, as part of our commitment to improving reliability and service, we have installed Two-Way Automatic Communication System (TWACS) digital meters on nearly every home and many of the businesses in our service area over the past three years. The TWACS AMR system offers both immediate and long-term benefits. TWACS allows us to get load profile data and usage patterns to better answer your questions regarding billing concerns. Following major outages, TWACS meters also assist with restoration of power by enabling our staff to quickly determine if residences are with or without power.
The construction of a 115 kV transmission line and substation to the Netarts/Oceanside area is being designed and planned. This project will provide greater reliability to the Tillamook area and to the Netarts/Oceanside area. Permitting and stakeholder discussions continue to occur as the final route selection process is determined.
Service reliability remains high on our list of goals. Our tree trimming and pole testing and treatment programs continue year-round and have proven to lessen the severity of storm related outages on our system.
